Women’s Health Depends on Regular Exams
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women next to skin cancer. The chance of a woman developing breast cancer during the course of her life is about 1 in 8. In 2008, there were roughly 183,000 new cases of breast cancer were diagnosed in the U.S.
After increasing in the 1990s, female breast cancer (yes men can get it too) rates decreased by about 3.5 percent from 2001 to 2004. Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, behind lung cancer. The chance that breast cancer will be responsible for a woman’s death is about 1 in 35.
Experts suggest regularly performing self breast examinations and meeting with your doctor for a check up on a regular basis.
