Whole Foods Are Especially Healthy
Eating ‘whole foods’ means eating unrefined, organic products. These foods are not genetically engineered and do not use artificial pesticides. They have many healthy benefits compared to processed foods because they lack a lot of hazardous substances found in processed goods. Specifically, whole foods lack artificial pesticides and high-fructose corn syrup.
In addition to this, eating organic food often helps to support local farms and business, rather than supporting huge corporations. This is keeping money in an area and buying produce from a farm anywhere from 10 to 100 miles away where processed food sometimes travels thousands of miles before hitting the shelves of your local supermarket.
You can find whole foods at local farmers’ markets, organic grocery stores, and even in your own garden! Eating whole foods means you are getting the maximum benefit from the food, including all the vitamins, minerals and antioxidants it has to offer. Once foods get processed and overcooked, they lose much of their nutritional value.
