Service
With the holidays approaching, my family often begins to think of those serving in the Armed Forces. I have several family members and friends who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. Their dedication and service to not only our country but to those suffering in many other countries is an inspiration to me. My father was in the Army and had several tours in Vietnam. From the time we were young we heard the stories of the men and women who sacrificed everything, sometimes their lives, in defense of our country.
Service to community is also important. You can get involved by helping out at local food banks, charities, or animal adoption agencies. You can also volunteer at children’s programs and recycle centers. Whatever type of service you can provide this holiday season, it’s worth it. You’ll be helping someone else in need, which will just make you feel better than ever.
