Patience With Child Education
Two of my best friends from high school are going to school for child education. I give them a lot of credit for wanting to teach kids. I could never do it.
I definitely don’t have the patience to be an elementary school teacher, but the people who do it are truly incredible. My first grade teacher had a huge impact on me. Mrs. Hooper was always so helpful, nice, and welcoming. I was a very active, energetic kid to put it lightly. I won’t deny for a second that I was very good at testing peoples’ limits and found pleasure in finding those limits (and sometimes purposefully crossing them). I don’t ever remember Mrs. Hooper getting upset with me.
I haven’t seen her in years, but just a few weeks ago my mom called me from the grocery store because she ran into Mrs. Hooper. I got to say “hi” to her briefly and just hearing her voice made me smile. My friends who are studying to be a “Mrs. Hooper” are both great people like her. I’m sure years after they teach their students, their influence will remain.
