Life Coach Vs. Mother
When I hear the term life coaching I can’t help but flash back to that wonderful sketch on Saturday Night Live with Chris Farley. You know the one I’m talking about, where he tries to get a couple of children back on the fast track to life. He even threatens them, letting them know that if they continue down the wrong path, they will end up living in a van down by the river.
This has eternally ruined life coaches for me for the rest of my years. So I guess I’m stuck with my mother as my life coach. My 65-year old, Italian Mormon mother who thinks the term liberal is a 4-letter word. She has, over the years in her own way, let me know that if I didn’t choose the right path, I would also be living in a van down by the river. As mothers go, she’s the best. Smart and hard-working with a stern hand when you get out of line. Just the type of life coach I’m looking for, plus she’s free!
