Keeping Up
When I was in college I felt as though I was in a little bubble and that my school was its own little world. I never really knew what was going on in the news. I believe that is the case with most teenagers, and unfortunately, even some adults. It is important to know what is going on in the news, and it is important to be informed.
I didn’t like that I didn’t know what was going on in the world, but I just had so much going on and conversations didn’t usually drift to news. Now that I’m out of college, I realize how detached I was from the “real world” in the four years I was at school. I now make an effort to try to know what’s going on in the world. I think it’s important to follow the news because a lot of things really do affect all of us. We’re lucky enough to live in a place that we can vote for the people who make decisions for us, so we should be informed enough to be able to make good decisions.
