Financial Help

For most people scholarships seem out of reach, like you have to be a perfect student with all the extracurricular activities possible to get one. This is not the case. Sure, many scholarships are merit based and you do need to have a compelling resume, but there are also hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to people who are interested in a certain subject or have a special story. Also, there are so many need-based scholarships that you can receive if you can show your inability to fully pay for college. The bottom line is that there is a scholarship out there for almost everyone, it might just take some time to find it.

There are a few things I would highly recommend you do. First, I would fill out the FAFSA form from FAFSA.ed.gov (not any of the other websites like FAFSA.org or .com). This will qualify you for any need based financial aid available. Next, often your school or specific major will have scholarships available that are granted to students of all types, i.e. you do not need to be perfect to apply and receive them. Finally, there are hundreds of websites available that will help you find scholarships that you can qualify for. Spend a few hours looking through all these resources; it can save you thousands of dollars!
