Climbing: An Intense Outdoor Sport
One of my most favorite outdoor activities is rock climbing. I love getting into the canyons and challenging myself on the rock. Recently, I have used my sport-climbing experience to get into some lead climbing. Lead climbing is essentially the same movement as sport climbing except you are the person clipping in the rope to the rock. You do this using carabineers that are connected by webbing called quick draws. It’s so much fun to be outside enjoying the mountains while participating in a great outdoor activity!
The cool thing about lead climbing is it’s a lot more intense. If you fall you are falling down to the last time you clipped in, which could be a few feet or a few yards away. The idea of this is very scary in comparison of sport climbing, because if you fall on sport you are held up by the belayer and the rope tension. Either way, climbing is a great time and amazing thrill.
