Alleviate School Costs with Student Loans
Most student loans have to be certified by your school, meaning your school approves that the funds you are applying for will be used for school related expenses such as books and housing. However, there are student loans that do not require school certification, and come in the form of one large check to spend as you see fit. Many students will get these loans and spend them not on school but on trips or clothes or to pay off other bills. These non-certified loans are not what you want because they generally have much higher fees and interest rates.
Even with the higher costs, many students still choose non-certified loans. When you are a young college student you assume that you are going to graduate and make tons of money, but that is not always the case. You never know what could happen, and if you do not get a job or graduate, you still have to pay these loans back. I worked with student loans for four months last summer and they can be great for helping kids get an education, but they also can be the quickest way to ruin your credit for the rest of your life. Make sure you really need them and are going to spend them the right way before considering applying for any type of loans.
