Value In Adult Education
Saturday, February 23rd, 2008In high school, I remember hanging out at a good friend Kevin’s, house and having his mom come home late almost every night because she was at night class earning a degree in accounting. Back then, I never realized or understood how great it was that she could do that. She was taking a step toward a better career for herself and a better life for her children.
I recently went back to where I grew up and visited Kevin and his mom. His mom just graduated this past spring and was already putting her new degree to work. In high school it didn’t occur to me how hard she was working keeping a full time job as well as going to school, and I didn’t really understand why she wanted to do it. I now realize how neat it is that she was able to take night classes for six years and get a degree. It worked for her and I think that type of education can help so many working adults.
