Disabilities and Simple Errands

Sunday, October 21st, 2007

It seems that often when I am looking around the city, I see people with disabilities having to be really resourceful to get where they are going. New buildings usually have access to help everyone get in and out with little effort, but older buildings don’t seem to have the same versatility. Even on busses, it seems like such a hassle to get people in wheelchairs on and off and that must make them uncomfortable.

There must be a better way to improve the lives of people with disabilities in the public sector. They shouldn’t have to struggle to go to work and run simple errands. Hopefully someday all buildings have automatic door-opening buttons and ramps, and public transportation has easy access doors and quick ramps to get people on board.
