Recovery Time

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

Last year, my friend acquired the illness mononucleosis from sharing a drink. She is not certain that she got it this way, but she thinks that is what happened. The ‘kissing disease’ is transferred via saliva by sharing drinks or swapping spit. You can get it very easily and it has various affects on different people’ health. Some people get really tired and some get sore throats and some get both.

My friend was really, really tired for weeks and then got even worse for weeks after that. The only way to cure the illness is to rest and eat healthy foods until it passes. Getting mononucleosis sucks, and it takes a long time to recover which puts a damper on school work or employment and other things. The biggest lesson my friend learned in trying to avoid getting mono again is to not share drinks! If you have children, you should stress the importance to them of not sharing drinks with friends.
