How Link Exchange Can Benefit Your Site

Thursday, March 10th, 2005

If you are looking to increase your website traffic and your search engine rankings, look no further then link exchanging. Link exchanging is what it sounds like. You and another website exchange links. Now, usually you do this with a similar website, but not with a competitor. The more links you have pointing to your website, the more people will visit your site and your site will be rated much higher on search engines if the search engine finds lots of links on other peoples websites pointing towards yours.

The key to successfully link exchanging is to exchange with complimentary websites, not substitute or competitor websites. In economics, a good that competes with another good is called a substitute good. An example of this would be a hamburger and a hot dog. You eat one or the other in general not both. You want to link exchange with sites that are complimentary. For instance, in respect to our previous example, if you sell hot dogs you would want to link with bun websites or ketchup websites. An increase in hot dog bun sales will also increase your hot dog sales. In other words, exchange links as much as you can, but with caution. Seek out complimentary websites, not competitors.

The Benefit of Good Internet Marketing

Wednesday, March 9th, 2005

Internet marketing has many different forms. One way to market on the Internet is to sponsor links on search engines. You see examples of this on search engines like Google or Yahoo. Simply type in “computers” on Google and the top three links are all sponsored, in addition to all the links on the right. However, if I know that the link is sponsored, I immediately know it is trying to sell me something. This can be a good thing if I am shopping, but when I am just doing research I would prefer to have a slightly less biased opinion.

This is why I am unconvinced of sponsored links. Sometimes a sponsored link is the best website to suit my needs, but more often than not I avoid sponsored links because I have developed a natural tendency to avoid ads on the Internet at all costs. They usually have no research value, and when I shop on the Internet I like to get all the information available so I can find the best price. If I were to own an Ecommerce business, I would spend my time and money on search engine optimization over sponsored links.

Celebrex, Other COX-2 Drugs Being Cast Off

Wednesday, March 9th, 2005

According to a Spine-health.com poll, nearly two-thirds of patients who were taking a COX-2 inhibitor, which includes Celebrex, Bextra and Vioxx, prior to the September 2004 Vioxx recall and Celebrex and Bextra adverse cardiovascular studies that followed in the months after are no longer taking the medications.

The poll included 375 back pain patients who were taking Celebrex, Bextra or Vioxx before the heart attack and stroke risks were linked to COX-2 drugs. Of the 375 COX-2 drug patients, just 36 percent said they were still taking one of the drugs. Forty-two percent of the patients polled switched from Celebrex, Bextra or Vioxx to other pain medications, nine percent switched to non-drug pain relievers and a surprising 13 percent are not taking any medication until they are able to better assess safety information.

Though an FDA advisory panel voted, allowing Celebrex to remain on the market, the panel also said the drug should carry a strong warning of heart attack and stroke risks. Many doctors and patients hoped the information regarding the use of Celebrex and other COX-2 drugs would be clearer following the three-day meeting.
