Trends in Education
Sunday, January 7th, 2001One of the most prevalent trends in education is the rise of distance learning. Each year more and more people are taking advantage of distance learning due to the rise of technology and the Internet. Students and teachers can now communicate in real-time using video and teleconferencing technologies. It is easier than ever to submit assignments and get feedback almost instantly online.
Students who do not live close to schools or are constantly moving will be greatly benefited by this trend. For instance, a farmer’s child who needs to be at home to help and lives to far away from a school can now receive a great education just by having a connection to the Internet. Another example would be that of a student whose parents are in the military or some other profession that requires constant moving. Instead of switching between teachers each move, a student could simply keep one teacher. The expansion of distance education and the technology that accompanies it will be exciting for years to come.
